Something Scenic

Why not? I needed a picture of something scenic for the photo hunt but I'm running out of time so I've decided that this works. Plus, I don't have any pictures of clothes lines and they remind me of cabins and PEI.

Hilarious Outtakes

Okay, the "hilarious outtake" was a planned thing but the broken glasses were real! I was gingerly cleaning my glasses with my shirt when they snapped! I was also headed to a conference for the next two days when it happened so I borrowed Korey's glasses. His persciption is less than mine so this wasn't ideal. Then we were cleaning the basement and came across my lab grade safety prescription glasses, side shields and all. And that's what I've been sporting at night. Maybe my nightly safety glasses would have been more "hilarious"!

Play

Ethan is rounding third on his way home! Korey took Ethan over to the park to play some baseball. Morgan and I went as picture takers but ended up filling in as back catcher as needed.

Work

Now this is not my everyday job. The lilacs had finished blooming and while I had cut a number of them to put into rooms in the house (a bed and breakfast is my dream one day) there were so many lilacs still on the tree and I got to pruning. I needed the ladder to get to most of the tree and even then couldn't reach the top. The sun looked really hot on the ladder and since I needed a picture of "work" for the photo hunt, this was it. I must say that at times taking a photo a day is tough, especially in the winter when most of the photos are indoors in really low light. So on a beautiful, hot sunny day, this make the photo a day fun!

New York Pretzels

We have fallen in love with some baking down at the Farmer's Market and pretzel buns are one of them.  So Morgan made her own pretzels tonight and they were fantastic! It was such a treat; thank you Morgan!

Coming Back to Life

This bush looked pretty dead after wind. It was really dry and brittle and then Ethan and I accidentally dropped a pile of wood on it! I thought that was the end of this and then wow! it got a few leaves and the other day blossomed these beautiful flowers.

Creative Crop

This is part of the June photo hunt and so far I have 5 out of the 20 shots that are needed. Looks like I know what I'm doing this weekend. One of the shots is "fountain" so if you know of one in Calgary, please let me know.

Caught in the Downpour

And quite seriously I was caught in this. i only had to get from the car to the front door but because it was such a beautiful warm sunny day I had on sandals. So running to the door was more like having little bowls on my feet that trapped that water and made it a very slippery run!

So after the intense downpour had essentially ended Korey got home to tell us that Calgary has a tornado warning. First, I thought those beautiful Rocky Mountains would protect us and really? A tornado warning? The tornado didn't come but the fear of it lived on through to Ethan's bedtime. A I get it. When I was 6 I took those statements to heart. Oh and on top of worrying about get whisked up in a tornado, he also was concerned about the flooding (in the south - not here- but it's all the same) and that he didn't have a life jacket. I mean, this is big stuff.

Okay, I just zipped away from my post to check the weather and it's going to be sunny in the morning (yay) and thundershowers in the afternoon. However, I promise a better picture tomorrow!

Garage Sale

The kids and I were coming home from Morgan's lacrosse game and drove by a sign for a garage sale. Morgan is working on changing up her room and is on the hunt for tea cups and saucers. I had some cash so we went for it! Morgan found a beautiful tea cup and saucer, Ethan go two sets of toys and I spotted these ice cube trays. So a few things about them, they are a beautiful blue, were in perfect shape and I am in desperate need of more ice cubes. $0.50 really well spent!

Super Soccer Saturday

Ethan and Noah had a lot of fun at the tournament, lots of fun on that obstacle course that's in the background. Tonight I spent quite a bit of time getting rid of that guy with the freezie - now I did this right before Ethan's bed time so there wasn't loads of concentration going into the edit. In the end, the guy is back and the photo is as is, minus some minor cropping

mmmm dinner!

Greg picked this up at the market. Gross! Really, it not my thing to have the whole fish in hte house. Ethan loved it though. We bbq'd this baby up and then a number of events happend...I put the eyes on Morgan's plate which she didn't love, the skin stuck to the foil but we fish tasted good and I forgot the fish carcass, head and all, on the grill and Farley ate it. Everything, skeleton, head and tin foil.

I spotted some bubble blowing supplies outside and thought if they still work (they have been sitting outside through all the seasons for, oh about, 2 years. I had the camera ready and was blowing bubbles trying to get a shot. It just wasn't working. But when I went inside to transfer the picutes this one came out. That's the reflection of my house on hte bubble. I was wowed!

Before and After

i headed off to a conference in Edmonton for a few days and I know you were all thrilled with the pics I the last time I was at a conference: my closet and toothbrush. So this time I took a number of pictures on Sunday (because it was so nice and I was having a great time with sun flare) and am posting them as the daily photo. A little bit of stretching the rules...

Here's Ethan with the lilac tree and the sun was right above and behind him. When I looked at the photo inside, there was too much sun and he was completely washed out. Morgan and I played around with the curves until be got it looking much better. And of course we wanted you to see just what the two of us can do!

Sun Flare

This is once again part of a photo hunt and I had no ideas what sun flare was. After I looked it up I thought "oh, I love that look". I literally learned what it was, grabbed the camera and headed outside. We've really only had 2 nice sunny days lately so I needed to get my shot sooner than later!

Brentwood Babes

The girls were getting ready for their second games after their win in the morning. Even stylish Korey made it in the photo. The girls played a great game after this but ended up losing. Morgan even got called for elbowing; a little bit of the lacrosse coming out in her. Then coach Dave was so mad at the ref for calling Morgan that he ended up earning himself a yellow card!

The Grass is Always Greener...

In Calgary right now with the insane amount of rain we've been having. Really my lawn is so long because of all the rain we've been having and I'm looking forward to the forecasted sun this weekend.

Finders Keepers

Ethan found a few flowers on the ground at the plant store. We brought them home and they each got their own glass. The picture turned out nice and since i had taken so many flower shots lately I thought I'd play with some editing.
