Photo Hunt - Repetition

Morgan took this photo when were we out with Farly. It's taken from below some really loud power lines.
And I still needed a photo for "repetition" for the photo hunt.

House & Home Photo Shoot

I decided to take a photo shoot of the house. This turned out to be a big surprise! If you think your house is looking really good, like a house you would see in a magazine, take a few pictures and see. Once I started taking the photos they all just looked like real estate photos; a clean house with no character. So I got a few things out of this one:

  1. the house got super tidy

  2. my bedroom (which didn't make the cut) still needs some wonderful added to it
  3. I learned that taking photos of houses is challenging. You need the right lighting and a really great house.

Never Ending Construction

These guys usually start at 6:00 every weekday and weekend morning. Their morning starts out with Tim"s and a series of f-bombs. Then it's onto sawing through the pavement right outside my bedroom window. the best part is - they are gone by noon. So while I'm super excited to have the new median, seriously, could they start at 7:00 on the weekends??

Shutter Priority

I can't go the whole year of photos without one of these. I have never taken a photo of cars in shutter priority but I was up at Nose Hill and went for it. The police had pulled someone over and it seemed like an interesting shot. I didn't have my tripod and it was blazing windy but I propped the camera up on a post and it worked good enough. Next time (if I choose to do another one) I'll make sure the screaming bright EnCana building isn't in the shot.

All July and August the city has been "Celebrating the Bow". Next weekend they will be sending hundreds of lanterns down the river. I will be shooting a few shots in shutter priority there for sure - no more traffic shots, I promise!

Peach Season

I actually took this photo the other night at the market but because I did the edits just now, I'm counting it for the photo today. This of course is not a real magazine story but it's fun to make them!

The West's Best Ice Cream

Arrg! I'm in a bit of a photo slump! It's been a picture a day for 10 months and I'm getting a wee bit tired of it. Some people that have done that same challenge have said that they really missed it when it was over and they did it for another year. Right now I can't say that I will miss packing my camera in my purse everywhere I go or setting up mini photo shoots for fake magazine or cupcakes ads. I will let you know in October where I stand on another year. I will be rewarding myself with something from the camera store the very last day of this.

End of the Day!

Doesn't this look good! It was a little sunny on the deck so that's where I landed after work.

Emily

We headed over to our friend's place for dinner tonight. It was my first time meeting cutie Emily. I had the chance to snap a few photos and spend some time playing.

Holding Water

I headed up to the cliff by the hospital to take this photo. In Avenue magazine there was a photo of a fire hydrant so as I was driving by this one I thought that might be a good picture. Really, it's a hydrant and not the exciting except maybe for the rust...

Light

I took this photo last night for the August photo hunt. Really, it was late and this was just kind of a last ditch effort to get a photo for the day. I will be reshooting for this for sure!
