Half Marathon Training

So it's time to get the blog rolling again - guess I needed a break from lugging my camera every where but I'm back! This time I plan on chronicling my half marathon training. Get ready for shots of my runners, the running paths and maybe a smiling photo of my running partner Leslie.

Stuart & Sally

I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph Stuart & Sally. It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and after our initial giggles of how a photo shoot is supposed to go, we got some really great photos. Here's just a peak at the afternoon.

Thanks again guys!

August Photo Hunt

Flag that represents your country, team, etc.
I almost forgot that I needed a photo of a flag. They are not my favorite to get photos of. Maybe that's because they typically look the same. Here's Peter and Cheryl's really large Canadian flag.

Something Comfortable
So as I'm trying to give you a little background on these pictures I'm realizing it's not starting out with my favorites. For this shot I asked the kids what they thought was "comfortable" and all the answers were around clothing. Ethan still has his baby blanket and he voted for that, Morgan said slippers. So it got me thinking that home is really where "comfortable" is.

Something Seasonal
Thank you local farmers market! We headed over to the market after work of course the camera and Mr. Farley came along. Dogs aren't allowed through the market so he ended up missing out on getting to jump on people - I didn't miss out on the seasonal fruits. so very fitting that this shots fits the list for "something seasonal".
Feet
This was a beautiful summer day to take pictures. In the camera class I took last year we learned how to change the Kelvin setting to add warmth or coolness to a photo. Today I didn't have to change anything and the photo looks really warm. These are Miss Morgan's beautiful feet.

Repetition
These power lines are loud! You have to walk under some really loud power lines to get to the river but by the time we were done our walk Morgan was no longer scared and she cruised right under this tower to take the shot.
Culture
I had no idea what to take for this. Time was running out when I remember Morgan was given this doll. She was looking after a friends dog and Yoko brought this wooden doll back from Japan for Morgan.

Contrast
This photo was a challenge. i was hoping to get a life contrast: old - young, rich - poor, but in the end went for shade contrast.
Indulgence
You probably saw this photo posted already this month as an ice cream ad. For the photo hunt I took off the words but now I see that it's not facing the right way. I'll fix that!

Photo Hunt - Repetition

Morgan took this photo when were we out with Farly. It's taken from below some really loud power lines.
And I still needed a photo for "repetition" for the photo hunt.

House & Home Photo Shoot

I decided to take a photo shoot of the house. This turned out to be a big surprise! If you think your house is looking really good, like a house you would see in a magazine, take a few pictures and see. Once I started taking the photos they all just looked like real estate photos; a clean house with no character. So I got a few things out of this one:

  1. the house got super tidy

  2. my bedroom (which didn't make the cut) still needs some wonderful added to it
  3. I learned that taking photos of houses is challenging. You need the right lighting and a really great house.

Never Ending Construction

These guys usually start at 6:00 every weekday and weekend morning. Their morning starts out with Tim"s and a series of f-bombs. Then it's onto sawing through the pavement right outside my bedroom window. the best part is - they are gone by noon. So while I'm super excited to have the new median, seriously, could they start at 7:00 on the weekends??
